Welsh choir John’s Boys wowed the judges as they appeared on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday, April 29 - even leaving Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden in tears. The group, from Rhosllanerchrugog in north Wales, was named after original conductor John Glyn.
“We started six years ago for entertainment really. We’re all friends and family and that’s what it is about,” said one of the choir’s members ahead of their performance. Another described how John’s Boys comprises “teachers, tree-surgeons, welders and car salesmen".
Introducing their act, one member told the judges that they rehearse on a Sunday afternoon in a cowshed. “Do you think you can win?” Simon asked and John’s Boys agreed.

After giving their rendition of Biblical by Callum Scott, John’s Boys were showered with praise from both the judges and the audience, who leapt to their feet after the performance. Kicking things off was an emotional Bruno, who said: “I’m telling you, the blend of your voices, the balance, the harmonies, it was divine. I felt like I was in music heaven. Perfection.”
Alesha then said: “I really, really loved the arrangement. It was really powerful. You sounded very rich and full-bodied and gorgeous together. It was a really powerful audition actually.”
Wiping the tears away from her eyes, Amanda added: “As soon as I knew you were a male-voice choir from Wales, I said to Alesha, ‘I’m going to cry’. It was just an exceptional audition and I keep thinking of you in the cowshed with all the cows.”
Rounding things off was Simon, who said: “It was really, really good. It started with a great lead, great harmonies, great choice of song. You started it so well. We’ve had a lot of choirs on the show and no one’s had that moment yet, apart from now. This is the moment.”
To no one’s surprise, John’s Choir received four yeses from the judges and have made it through to the next stage of the competition. What did you think of them? Let us know in the comments.
