A British woman has tragically died in Tenerife after a hit and run that also left her mum injured.
The woman was mowed down in the horrific car smash and later died in hospital as police launched a manhunt for the driver after the incident on Sunday.
The pair were hit when a white van mounted the pavement they had been walking along in Miguel de Adona, in the south of the island.
The incident occurred around 8.30pm on Sunday.
Today it emerged that the younger of the two women had died in hospital on Thursday from her injuries.
She was said to have suffered severe head injuries when she was rushed to a hospital in the island capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife after being struck.
The older woman, believed to be in her mid-seventies, has already been released from hospital after suffering moderate rib trauma.
Police are still hunting the driver, said to have stopped briefly at the scene before speeding off after seeing the victims lying hurt on the ground.
Local media reported it hit the two women from behind, and it isn't yet known if the women were holidaying on the island or lived there.
Civil Guard officers are working with local police officers to find the man responsible.
