A notorious British traveller claims he "crossed multiple borders illegally" over 10 days to visit his girlfriend - before she dumped him over the phone.
Miles Routledge, from Birmingham, is a thrill-seeking "danger tourist" who tries to visit the most dangerous places in the world.
The student is best known for being evacuated during the Taliban offensive and the fall of Kabul, Afghanistan in 2021, as well as for the questionable views he shares on his Twitter account.
Mr Routledge took to social media to share his latest sad news with his 130,000 followers.
He said: "My gf [girlfriend] broke up with me, I need a few days guys.
"The worst thing was this 10-day trip was me crossing multiple borders illegally to see her so she doesn’t have to come and see me. I fractured my ankle doing so.
"It’s going to be a long night guys. I can’t believe it was over a phone call too."
A day later he returned back to social media to give an update to his followers, saying: "I’m no longer upset, annoyed maybe but not upset.
"I need to get huge in the gym and improve myself in every way possible."
Five days later he said he planned to trek across the Afghanistan-Chinese border "for fun", with four others.
He continued: "To show my gratitude, I will plant a Taliban flag on the mountain crossing.
"Nobody has crossed this border since 1947 with only a singular photo existing. This expedition will go down in history."
He also said he will give himself three to six months before he starts pursuing any new love interests as his "hairline isn't getting any thicker."
Speaking to The Sun, a friend at Loughborough University said Mr Routledge had wanted to do "something weird during summer to show off about" in September about his trip to Afghanistan.
He said: "Miles is definitely in Afghanistan - 100 per cent. He’s genuinely there. People might think it’s an elaborate hoax but it’s true.
"People told him he was insane. They told him he was a nutcase if he went over there at the moment.
"But I think it just spurred him on. He’s a joker - he just wanted to do something weird during summer to show off about."
He previously visited Chernobyl in 2019, bragging online that he bribed a security guard to let him keep a gas mask he had stolen.
