A British woman has been burned alive in Turkey after being trapped inside a caravan fire with her boyfriend.
Hayley Louise Pearce, 54, was staying in the caravan with her boyfriend in the port city of Bodrum. The couple apparently woke up after the blaze started, but were unable to get to the door.
Hayley remained trapped in the trailer and died in the early hours of May 11. Her Turkish boyfriend, who was not named, was reportedly also burned but somehow managed to escape.
When firemen turned up a short while later, they could only recover her lifeless body. It has been taken to the morgue of the Mugla Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
Bodrum is a popular tourist destination with Brits with lots of local bazaars save additional leather goods which are particularly popular in the region.
It also has a lot of yachts and marinas and there are also a lot of hiking trails in the area.
According to local media, the cause of the fire was probably an electric heater. Local media added that the pair may have been living in the caravan as it was more affordable than rental properties in the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
