Brit Awards 2025: How have Charli XCX, Dua Lipa and Ezra Collective reacted to their nominations?

Dua Lipa received four nominations, including the Brit for British Album of the Year for Radical Optimism - (Yui Mok / PA)

The British and international stars nominated at the 2025 Brit Awards were announced on January 24, the same day as this year’s Oscar hopefuls were revealed.

After sound-tracking the summer with her game-changing album Brat, Charli XCX deservingly picked up the most nominations this year with five. History has been made in other nominations for the award show’s 45th edition, with The Beatles picking up their first nomination in 42 years for their final track Now and Then, while The Cure – who haven’t been up for a Brit since 1993 – have been nominated three times.

Last year’s ceremony saw Tooting’s Raye make history with the most awards in a single evening, where she took home six Brit trophies, including one of the night’s most prestigious, British Artist of the Year.

While we won’t find out the winners until the ceremony kicks off on Saturday, March 1, in the meantime, let’s recap how the nominees have reacted to their Brit Award nominations.

Charli XCX

“Tysm for the brit noms i don’t really get how you vote so don’t worry about it!” Charli XCX said on Instagram in response to being the award’s most nominated artist of the year, before plugging the preorder for one of her upcoming vinyl releases. As well as being up for the night’s biggest prizes, British Artist of the Year and British Album of the Year, Guess, XCX’s collaboration with Billie Eilish which hit number one over the summer, is nominated for Song of the Year. The singer has also picked up nods for Best Pop and Best Dance Act.

When the Brits came under fire for not nominating any female acts for its Artist of the Year award in 2023, XCX – who was nominated for two awards that year – had something to say. When asked on the red carpet why she wasn’t nominated in the category, she replied: “Great question. Because I’ve heard a lot of chat about the fact there weren’t enough females in album cycle and that’s why no one was nominated. But I was in an album cycle and I had a number one album (2022’s Crash). There’s so many of us, so I don’t know. You should ask them.

“I think we’re doing everything right, I don’t think it’s our fault. I think it might be theirs,” she told the reporter.

Dua Lipa

Closely behind XCX with four nominations is Dua Lipa. Fresh off the release of last year’s Radical Optimism and a headline gig at Glastonbury, seven-time Brit winner Lipa has picked up nominations for British Album of the Year, Song of the Year (for Training Season), British Artist of the Year and Best Pop Act this year.

On Instagram, in response to a fan account sharing that Lipa now becomes the most nominated female artist in Brits history with a total of 23 nods over the years, the singer said ”this is nutssss!!!!”

Ezra Collective

Like Lipa, Jazz quintet Ezra Collective also picked up four nods at this year’s Brits, including Album of the Year for their acclaimed release Dance, No One’s Watching and Best New Artist.

“From a youth club to the Brit Awards... Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the journey to this moment,” the Mercury award-winning band said on Instagram.

Jade

The former Little Mix member has had an impressive start to her solo career with her unique spin on dance-pop, which hasn’t gone unnoticed by Brit voters. Receiving nominations for Song of the Year for Angel of My Dreams and Best Pop Act, she becomes the first of Little Mix’s members to pick up a solo nomination at the awards (the band themselves have won three awards).

“I’m honestly so gagged and grateful,” Thirwall wrote on Instagram. “Brb crying pop girlie tears,” she added. Speaking during the nominations live broadcast, she said that her solo nomination feels “extra special” compared to her wins in the band. “When it’s for your own music and from my own personal experiences, it does hit different, it feels extra special,” she said.

KSI

Influencer-turned-rapper-turned-boxer KSI picked up his second Brit nomination for Song of the Year, thanks to his Trippie Redd collaboration Thick Of It. Although dividing listeners upon its release, it seems Brit voters saw something in the top 10 song, which follows his 2021 nomination in the category for Dont Play with Anne Marie and Digital Farm Animals.

“HAHAHAHAHA NO WAY. THICK OF IT, IS NOMINATED FOR A BRIT AWARD FOR SONG OF THE YEAR,” the rapper, who was seemingly in disbelief about the nomination, tweeted.

In a video recorded for the award’s social media, KSI pokes fun at the song’s naysayers amid the nomination. “It seems the song that a lot of you have been making fun of me for, the song that a lot of you were making memes about... Well, that song now, ladies and gentlemen, is a BRIT-nominated song for Song of the Year... I defeated the internet. Now what?,” he says before bursting into manic laughter.

Rachel Chinouriri

Indie pop star Rachel Chinouriri had a slightly more heartfelt response to her nominations for British Artist of the Year and Best New Artist. “As an ex BRIT school student, this means more to me than anyone will ever know,” she shared on X. “Going in 2016 as a student inspired me to give music a try and I always wondered if I’d ever come back, so to be able to come back as a double nominee truly means the world to me.”

Chinouriri’s debut album, What a Devastating Turn of Events, received widespread acclaim when it was released in May.

Elsewhere, 2023’s Rising Star winners The Last Dinner Party said they “couldn’t be more grateful” to be nominated for four Brits this year (including British Group and Best Alternative/Rock Act), while Sam Ryder said his Christmas single’s nod for Song of The Year “felt like a real uplifting moment”.

International nominees up for Brits this year include Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem.
