Brit Awards 2022: Anne-Marie jokes she ‘didn’t need ankle anyway’ after fall

Anne-Marie has joked about her dramatic fall at the Brit Awards on Tuesday night after an outpouring of concern from fans.

The 30-year-old singer was not long into her performance at the O2 Arena when she stumbled down several steps.

However, the Voice UK judge saw the funny side, telling fans: “Didn’t need my left ankle anyway”.

The musician, known for hits such as ‘Ciao Adios’ and ‘Rockabye’, quickly recovered from the stumble and continued with her performance.

Fans have praised her composure, with one writing on social media: “Anne-Marie saved that fall so well”.

Another added: “Well Anne-Marie recovered from her fall like an absolute queen,” while a third said: “Know what, props to Anne Marie for continuing on”.

The star continued to joke about the mishap, sharing a Specsavers post which read: “Your next visit’s on us”.

She also reposted a spoof account set up in the wake of her accident dedicated to ‘Anne Marie’s ankle’.

A tweet read: “Wow. Bit shaken up but I’m ok. Bit bruised but with a bit of ice should be fine xxx." Anne-Marie simply wrote in response: "I AM DEAD."

Meanwhile on the night, Adele won three out the four main prizes, scooping best artist, album and song of the year for Easy on Me.

The singer is one gong behind Robbie Williams as the most-awarded artist in Brits history, who has 13 Brit Awards.

Ed Sheeran was crowned songwriter of the year, while Dua Lipa was named the best pop/R&B act.
