With many of us still reeling from the near-40 degree heat that attacked Bristol in mid-July, the news that this weekend's (August 6-7) weather is shaping up to offer sunny intervals in the early 20s and a gentle breeze could come as a relief. The city saw its hottest day on record as temperatures soared to 35.3 degrees on July 18.
However, another heatwave could be on the way as soon as next week. From August 8, temperatures are predicted to hit the high 20s with plenty of sun on the way.
Last month saw the driest July the UK has faced in over 100 years. With more sun and little rain on the way throughout August, Wessex Water has devised a drought plan in case of emergency.

However, there is currently no hosepipe ban in force across Bristol and surrounding areas. Southern Water will impose a ban, affecting thousands in Hampshire, from August 5.
This weekend, the Met Office has predicted temperatures not exceeding 24 degrees, with 23 degrees set for Saturday. It will often feel cooler than the actual temperature, thanks to a gentle breeze.
BBC Weather has also predicted 23 degrees across the weekend, with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze helping keep conditions pleasant.
However, things are looking to heat up as we enter next week, with temperatures hitting mid-high 20s as soon as Tuesday (9 August). BBC Weather has predicted 25 degrees, with Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 seeing temperatures as high as 26 degrees.
Europe has seen a 'heat dome' affect countries such as Spain, France and Portugal. This means that the likelihood of another UK heatwave is higher than usual.
If this high pressure moves across to the UK, this could trigger another heatwave. For now, enjoy the pleasant temperatures at the weekend, and get out into that breeze while you can.
