Bristol University candidate blasts city after visiting from London

With the end of another academic year drawing closer, prospective university students are starting to think about the universities they will be attending in September. Many hold open days for prospective students, who have received offers, to give them a taste of what they could expect if they attended that university.

One prospective student from London, who could be attending the University of Bristol next year, took to TikTok to share his experience of coming to an open day. Amar, who appears to be hoping to study Film and Television next year, took viewers through his day, from travelling to the city to what he thought when he arrived in Bristol.

In the video, Amar shares that the drive from London to Bristol took around two hours but upon entering the city claimed to not be the biggest fan of what he first saw. He said: “I wasn’t impressed at all when we entered Bristol,” an opinion that slightly changed once he reached the centre of the city.

And Amar wasn’t alone in his thoughts on Bristol, a few commenters in the comments section also found parts of the city not to their liking.

One commenter said: “Had to go to Brislington in Bristol on Friday, OMG it was so rough.”

Another said: “Went there today, the city centre was a bit disappointing. But the West and the North were nice ngl.” To which Amar replied: “For me the outskirts were horrible legit but I found the bit around the uni decent.”

Despite not having been impressed with what he witnessed on his way into the city, Amar seemed to decide to choose the university as his firm choice, along with many of his commenters.

One, who claimed they were also putting the uni as their firm offer, said: “I’ve firmed for Bristol Law! Are you firming?”

While another, who was already looking into accommodation, said: “Did you see the accommodation? I’ve decided to firm Bristol but can’t decide which accommodation to go for?”

The city may not be the place for some but it has a lot to offer and has a cracking nightlife for students.
