Bristol's richest and poorest neighbourhoods revealed in new interactive map

Households in Bristol's richest neighbourhood earn nearly £23,700 more a year than the poorest, according to official figures, putting it into the top 20 cities with the largest wage inequality. The data from the Office for National Statistics lays bare the income gap between households across the city.

In Barton Hill, households have an average net annual income of £22,100 after income tax, national insurance, council tax, pension contributions, and child support have been paid. It's the lowest disposable household income of any neighbourhood in Bristol.

Meanwhile, Clifton East has the highest disposable household income of any neighbourhood in Bristol, at £45,800. That's a difference of £23,700, the sixteenth largest gap in the country.

Leicester has the next largest gap of £36,400, followed by Nottingham at £36,300 and Southwark, where it's £35,600. You can see how different local authorities compare to one another using the interactive map below from the Reach data unit.
