The Bristol region has recorded two new covid-related deaths and more than 1,700 infections in a single day, the latest data shows.
Case numbers in the Bristol region are rising as the Government prepares to ease covid rules in England.
Bristol's covid rate is currently 897.5 cases per 100,000 people, while the UK rate is at 941.3.

Figures published today (Wednesday, January 19) show the city of Bristol recorded 813 new Covid cases in 24 hours, bringing its total to 112,780 since the pandemic began.
South Gloucestershire recorded 520 new cases, bringing its total to 63,598.
North Somerset saw 380 new infections, bringing its total to 42,463.
That means the number of positive covid cases since the pandemic began in the Bristol region has surpassed 218,000.
Sadly one person died from with the virus in South Gloucestershire, and one person died in North Somerset within 28 days of testing positive.
Meanwhile Health Secretary Sajid Javid is about to hold a press conference at No 10 outlining new covid rules for the country.
He is expected to make an announcement on social distancing, face masks, working from home and covid passports.

Nationally a further 108,069 cases were recorded in the UK today, and another 359 people have died within 28 days of a positive test.
