Bristol’s best curry houses for takeaway as voted for by locals

Finding the perfect place to get your takeaway can be hard when there are so many options to choose from, and that becomes even harder when you’re looking for a specific cuisine. Most people have their favourites that they go to time and time again, especially for cuisines like Indian and Chinese.

One Reddit user recently posted on the site asking people for their recommendations on where to get the best curry, the post read: “Best curry in Bristol (takeaway)?”

Amassing more than 100 responses in the comments section, everyone had a suggestion.

One of the most popular curry houses amongst the commenters was Msala Library on the high street in Easton. The Indian restaurant that has a 4.5 star rating on Google serves a range of different types of dishes from your standard curries to options like Biryani and Tandoori dishes, there are even vegetarian options as well.

Not only do they do takeaway, they have a dine-in option as well, perfect for a date night or family curry night. One commenter said: “Msala Library in Easton. Their lamb madras is so good. Their ideas of heat levels are different from most places so expect your curry to possibly be hotter than what you’re used to.”

Someone else wrote: “I had a nice daal there,” while a third said: “Msala Library gets my vote.”

While it seems Bristolians have many they want to recommend, another that got a few mentions was the Raj Mahal. Located on Frome Valley Road, the restaurant has a Google star rating of 4.4 and offers both dine-in and takeaway as well as delivery as well.

One commenter on Reddit said: “I am Bristolian born and bred now living in Gloucester and I loved this place, Raj and staff were great people as well.”

Another replied saying: “Raj and his team really are great. I used to go there as a kid and since their reopening I’ve been ordering at any given chance. The greatest Curry in Bristol.”

Many other suggestions were all thrown into the mix too with Jeevan Sweets, Oh Calcutta, Dhamaka, Urban Tandoor, Indian Rassasy and Shadin all getting multiple mentions with one commenter even said: “Depends where you are but I had a banger from Shadin in Staple Hill the other day.”
