Bristol Rovers reveal season ticket prices for new South Stand as club wait on planning

Bristol Rovers have opened season ticket sales for the proposed new South Stand at the Mem, as the club wait on planning permission from Bristol City Council to begin work on the structure.

Rovers revealed at the end of April their plans to construct a new permanent stand opposite the Thatchers' End which would replace the temporary and much-derided tented areas of the ground and remain confident it can be completed for the start of the new campaign.

The structure will boost the capacity in BS7 by 2,600 to around 12,500, representing a 25 per cent increase on their attendance for the final League One fixture of 2022/23 against Bolton Wanderers.

The former South and South West Stands were cleared not long after that match on May 7 and at last Saturday's Marcus Stewart charity match at the Mem, all that remained were a few advertising hoardings and the big screen which will be relocated once the South Stand project commences.

Prices for the new stand range from £69 for Under-10s to £419 for an adult - a 13 per cent increase on last season's charges in the South West area of the ground but with a more modern facility in the works, which will also include the first concourse at the ground. They can be purchased HERE

Rovers CEO Tom Gorringe confirmed on Twitter earlier this month that planning is "already in" but no documents appear on Bristol City Council's public portal which can be viewed HERE. It is understood, however, there is a lag of a number of weeks between submissions and registration.

It was revealed earlier this month, via Companies House, that Rovers have taken out a loan with Nationwide Finance Limited, of which the amount is unknown, to finance the project.

Speaking on Rovers' official website regarding the release of this latest batch of season tickets, Gorringe said: "Our fans are the lifeblood of the club. During Covid, we saw first-hand the impact that not having you with us could have on the team, whilst last season you were able to play your part in cheering us on to promotion.

"We entered this season with more Season Ticket holders than ever before and we would like to thank you all for sticking with this team through thick and thin. We remain ambitious and want to keep improving (on and off the pitch) and we can’t wait for you to be with us on the next part of this journey."

Rovers will discover their schedule for 2023/24 on June 22 when the EFL release all fixtures for the forthcoming campaign. The likelihood is the Gas will be away on the opening weekend of the season on August 5-6 to allow Bristol City to play at Ashton Gate as the Balloon Fiesta in south Bristol falls on the following weekend.
