Liverpool prospect Jarell Quansah says he "can't wait to get started" after signing on loan for Bristol Rovers until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old has been a crucial player in Liverpool's under-21s side and he was a pivotal member of the England under-19s team that won the UEFA European Championships.
The centre-back becomes Rovers' second signing of the January window after goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe signed on loan from Brentford on Thursday, and the Liverpool youngster goes some way to addressing a problem area in Joey Barton's squad.
The Gas are short on numbers in central defence with Lewis Gibson injured and the departures of Alfie Kilgour and Bobby Thomas, but Quansah is highly thought of on Merseyside and has enjoyed a strong season in the under-21s, prompting confidence that he is ready for senior football.
He told the club's website: "I can't wait to get started at Rovers. I'd known of the club's interest in me for a little while and I'm looking forward to meeting all the lads and showing everyone what I can do.
Quansah has been handed the number five shirt but will have to wait for his debut after Saturday's game against Wycombe Wanderers was postponed.
