Joey Barton is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding who will start in goal for Bristol Rovers against Mansfield Town on Saturday.
James Belshaw has been the man possession for the Gas, but he has missed the past two games with injury, giving a Finland international Anssi Jaakkola a chance to regain his place in the starting XI.
An error from the Finn contributed to Sutton United's goal in a 1-1 draw last Saturday, but the 34-year-old was outstanding in the 2-1 defeat at Oldham Athletic three days later, making a series of fine saves to keep an off-colour Rovers in the contest.
But Belshaw is back in contention this weekend after recovering from a minor knee injury sustained against Walsall last month.
Barton, though, declined to name his starting keeper when asked by Bristol Live at Thursday's pre-match press conference.
"I’m going to go with Jed Ward, I think," was the manager's tongue-in-cheek response. "I’ll leave both of them out and play Jed, better for us.
"Do you seriously believe I’m going to tell you who's playing in goal on a Thursday? I may as well phone Nigel Clough myself.
"Belly trained this morning. He feels fine, so barring getting through tomorrow, everything should be fine for him and he’ll come back into contention in the squad. Good news on that front."
Rovers, however, are still waiting for news on Antony Evans' availability. Rovers' creative talisman limped off after little more than 20 minutes at Boundary Park on Tuesday.
Barton said it was a precaution with the 23-year-old's movement visibly compromised. It had been a late decision for the player to be included after feeling some discomfort in his hamstring at Sutton.
The player was set to undergo a scan on Thursday to assess if there was any damage.
"Once we get the findings back for that we’ll assess it and see where he is," Barton said. "We’ve taken him off as a precautionary measure and hopefully we get some good news back once the scan is in."
Josh Grant could return to contention after having an injection to treat a niggle earlier in the week, while Leon Clarke is back in training after a brief setback after his return last month from a long-term hamstring injury.
Striker Ryan Loft, however, will not feature against Mansfield due to a back injury suffered in training in late January.
Jon Nolan, meanwhile, waits to make his Rovers debut and Barton told reporters the former Ipswich Town midfielder is edging closer to being included in the squad after more than a year blighted by a knee injury.
"He’s getting closer," Barton said. "We’re at the back end of his return to play.
"Nolo is chomping at the bit but because he’s been out for quite a long period over the past 12-18 months, he’s somebody that we want to get the best out of and we’ve got to make sure we get him in a position where we don’t just have him for two or three games and we have him for a prolonged period with us.
"We’re going softly, softly with that. He’s coming along really nicely.
"The weekend’s game might be too soon for him, but certainly in the next couple of weeks he’ll be in contention."
Connor Taylor trained fully on Thursday after being withdrawn from the warm-up at Oldham, and is in line to feature against Mansfield.
