Bristol Pride Festival is another event that the city hasn't hosted for two years due to COVID. And the parade, which saw 18,000 people take part in 2019, has certainly been missed.
And, this year a full bill of celebrations is set to be back, taking place on Pride Day on Saturday, July 9. A march will be carried out throughout the centre, as crowds will again gather in Castle Park before making their way through the city centre and onwards to the harbourside, ahead of the festival on the Downs.
This year’s march will be incredibly poignant, as not only is it the chance to bring the community back together but it also marks the 50th anniversary of the first Pride march to take place in the UK. The parade is happening at a time when discussions continue on a full ban on conversation therapy and as the government reviews the Human Rights Act.

The parade provides the opportunity for all to remember that while progress has been made, the LGBTQI+ community still have to keep fighting for equal rights for all, and ensure that hard-fought rights are not only maintained but furthered. As well as a protest for equality and inclusion, the march is an opportunity for people to come together to proudly celebrate members of the community.
This year, a range of official events have been organised alongside the march and the Pride Day festival - which are free to attend; with a range of ways to support Bristol Pride. You can pledge your support by getting a wristband, gaining in return: money off at the Pride bars, Free Travel on Pride Day with First Bus [Bristol Zone], Free travel on the Pride Day shuttle service, Discounts or freebies with food traders on Pride Day, Dedicated festival entry gate lane, Discounted 6 O’clock Gin and tonic from Undershed at Watershed the whole of Pride Weekend and Discounted journeys with Bristol Ferry on Pride Day.
Or, you can separately buy tickets for the afterparty events, which are proving extremely popular. The official afterparty at the O2 Arena has already sold out, but there are two events that still have events up for grabs.
Basement 45 will be hosting an event and for £8 you can bag entry to the Grrrl Crush Official Afterparty at Basement 45 with headline set from Grove plus Red Rash Inn and Itchy Bitch Disco DJs.
Or you can party at Love Inn, and enjoy visual and aural extravaganza of bold, beautiful, bombastic bassgasms from the incredible Booty Bass collective - with tickets priced at £10. Tickets can be found here.
