Bristol Port appoints Sweet Construct to build huge new warehouse at Royal Portbury Dock

A Bristol construction company has been appointed as the main contractor for a new-build industrial warehouse at Royal Portbury Dock.

The Bristol Port Company selected Sweet Construct to build the 7,000 sq m structure as part of ongoing expansion plans at the port.

Sweet Construct will be working alongside project management consultancy Mode Consult to deliver the project.

David Rhys-Jones, head of construction for Sweet Construct, said: “Building lasting relationships with local businesses is key for us, and we are delighted to be working on this project for The Bristol Port Company, which we hope will be the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”

Andrew Ord, operations director at The Bristol Port Company added: “We selected Sweet Construct for this project as their expertise was clear – they fully understood our requirements and were able to react quickly, making full use of their established local supply chain to begin the works immediately, helping us to remain on track with our investment and expansion plans at the port.”

Sweet Construct is a family-run business that has been operating for more than 40 years.

The business has seen significant growth during the past 18 months, with the latest appointment adding to a portfolio of projects in the Bristol and South West and South Wales region.
