A Bristol tech company that provides patient medical record systems (PMR) for community pharmacies has boosted its workforce by adding 12 new staff.
Titan PMR has developed a cloud-based software that helps pharmacies to manage medicine dispensing and control of business activities, in an effort to speed up the user experience for patients and practice owners alike.
The group has now grown its workforce to more than 50 in order to keep with demand, which it says stems from “a deluge” of independent pharmacists investing in new businesses.
Tian said “a major national shift” was underway in the industry, as large chains look to sell off or close community pharmacies.
From last October to January this year, the firm said it had installed its tech into 125 pharmacies, more than double than the same period a earlier, with most of its bring clients having purchased new pharmacies. Titan said its new team of recruits had been set up specifically to cater for new pharmacy transfers.
The business said its platform was used to dispense four million prescriptions per month across the country, equating to 5% of the UK market. The company said it is looking to double these numbers by reaching 10% of market share by the end of 2023.
Chief executive Tariq Muhammad, who worked as a pharmacist before setting up Titan’s parent company Invatech Health, said: “I predicted that 2022 would be the year of the independent. It’s been happening, and we are keen to play our part in facilitating the transition from big corporate dominance to more dynamic, independent ownership.
“Technology in pharmacy has lagged behind other sectors but Titan has been a game-changer for the industry and with its unique features, such as artificial intelligence that helps free up pharmacists time, is setting the standard that all other systems are following.”
