A man from Bristol says he had a rude awakening when his phone received a second government alert warning at 3.49am - over 12 hours after the official test took place.
Liam Moran from Shirehampton said he received the text and siren alert yesterday (April 23) as expected, but was awoken in the early hours of this morning when his phone began making the 10-second warning sound again.
He said: "I got the alarm yesterday at 3pm like everybody else did, and I thought ok, that's normal. Then I got woke up at 3.49am with the same noise, so I knew it was the alarm again.

"It kind of freaked me out a bit because I thought, as far as I knew, it was only going to be 3pm. So I'm thinking we're bloody getting invaded or something.
"It's a bit of a strange one. I'd be interested to see how many other people received it this morning."
Most UK phones were sent an emergency government alert just before 3pm yesterday. The alert test was sent out by officials from the Cabinet Office National Situation Centre, which should have been received by every 4G and 5G device in the UK that had not opted out - although some people, many of whom were on Three, said they did not get one.
Mr Moran, whose mobile provider is O2, said that both times he received the alert, he had both the siren and text warning. He added that no one else in his household or his friends or family reported a similar experience.
However, on social media, other people have reported a similar experience. Jharts said on Twitter: "Massive thanks to the Government for sending my wife the Emergency Alert at 2.48 am this morning! A very nice unwanted early alarm wake-up." Meanwhile, Russ de Ell said: "It’s 02:51, and I just received an alert test from the Government!! Good job, I was up for an early start to work?!?"
Despite the inconvenience, Mr Moran thinks the alert was effective and he will leave the function activated on his phone. He said: "I'll definitely leave it on to be sure. Just in case there's an actual emergency in the future."
The Cabinet Office said the “vast majority of compatible phones” received the alert as part of what was said to be the biggest public communications exercise carried out in the UK. But the Government department said it was aware the message notification was not delivered to some mobile phones, and a review will be conducted to find out why.
