Bristol live music venue extends partnership with events firm

Bristol live music venue Marble Factory has extended its partnership with events consultancy Ghostwriter.

Durham-based Ghostwriter will continue to oversee and operate all live music shows within the 1,350 capacity standing venue, part of the same warehouse complex in St Philips as nightclub Motion.

First opened in 2014 and then expanded in 2017, Marble Factory has hosted more than 80 performances in the last 18 months.

Ghostwriter said it had made “significant investments” and operational improvements to the venue in order to “remain competitive in such a strong territory”.

Throughout the summer the backstage area was further developed to increase the number of dressing rooms from two to three.

The production office was also refurbished, with a pair of self-contained shower rooms, laundry and kitchen area added to improve the experience of touring artists.

Both partners said that “Significant financial investments” had also been made to enhance the available in‐house production, with audio and lighting upgrades arriving over the coming weeks to include new audio and lighting desks, as well as upgrades to the audio peripherals and lighting fixtures.

Martin Page, director of Motion, said: “Motion Event’s partnership with Ghostwriter has enhanced our live music offering greatly and has grown from strength to strength since reopening in July 2021.

“Working with Carl [Bathgate, Ghostwriter’s commercial director] and his team has been professional, seamless, commercially successful and a real pleasure resulting in the ability to reinvest in the future of the venue. With more projects in the pipeline, the relationship continues to go from strength to strength and has become a real asset to our business.”

Mr Bathgate added: “The investment in the venue is reflected in the extension of our arrangement with Motion, we will continue to make incremental improvements to the venue both in terms of facilities and technical provision to further enhance the offering.

“We have very much enjoyed working with Martin and his team, as their enthusiasm and passion has been a pleasure to be around. We look forward to many more years of successful partnership both in relation to the venue and beyond.”

Since the partnership began three years ago, Ghostwriter has helped bring artists such as Bastille and Jessie Ware to Marble Factory.
