A spectacular underwater projection is among one of the beautiful art installations coming for Bristol Light Festival 2023. Organisers have promised their biggest event to date and it's shaping up to be an unmissable festival on the cultural calendar.
Bristol Light Festival has announced further seven incredible installations have been revealed for this year’s event, featuring internationally renowned artists and some of the South West’s leading talent. There are now a total of eleven installations confirmed for the festival launching on February 3.
One of the new light shows entitles 'Sirens' will feature a beautiful holographic projection that will transform the harbourside into a mythical underwater world inhabited by supernatural sea creatures and mysterious mermaids. Bristol based-artists Davy and Kristin McGuire hope to inspire people to consider the climate crisis through the lens of these mythical creatures.

Other stand-out pieces include the award-winning visuals artist who's worked with the Chemical Brothers and Metalica. Marcus Lyall is a world-famous artist whose work ‘Scream the House Down’ see an explosion of colour on the Corn Exchange building.
Vicky Lee, Head of Bristol City Centre BID, said: "We are thrilled to have such a fantastic line up of content and bolster Bristol’s creative reputation with a winter event that will help the city to have a positive start to the new year. The event embodies everything that Bristol represents and showcases it as the vibrant, playful and creative city that we know and love.”
Shoppers in Cabot Circus will also notice ‘Trumpet Flowers’, an immersive installation of visuals and sound created by Sydney-based studio Amigo and Amigo. It will feel like you are shrinking as you approach these super-sized trumpet flowers and tentatively step inside some unseen Giant’s musical garden.
From February 3 until 12, visitors can explore the free light installations as they come to life from 5pm to 10pm, enjoying the city’s food, drink and hospitality offerings along the way. Last year, the festival reported 170,000 visitors in Bristol city centre across six days. Organisers are encouraging visitors to plan ahead for Bristol Light Festival, considering sustainable travel arrangements where possible.
