Firefighters from four stations rushed to a tower block in South Bristol last night to rescue a 90-year-old woman from a fire.

Crews from Bedminster, Temple, Hicks Gate and Kingswood were called to reports of a fire in a residential, 11-storey building on Silcox Road, Hartcliffe, at 12.53am on Monday (July 11).

Firefighters discovered a small fire in a kitchen on arrival on the seventh floor of the building and a 90-year-old woman was saved from the seventh floor by fire crews using a smoke hood.
