When police discovered a WhatsApp messaging group dealing in drugs called The Bristol Trade Market they delved further. And their inquiries led to a father-of-two from Southmead, trying to profit from the illicit trade.
Jamie Davis, 23, of Charfield Road, pleaded guilty to offering to supply cocaine, being concerned in the supply of ketamine, ecstasy and cannabis and possessing cannabis with intent to supply. He appeared at Bristol Crown Court for sentence yesterday (February 7, 2023).
Judge Euan Ambrose jailed him for two years and four months. He told Davis: "There are sentencing guidelines I must apply. This was deliberate involvement, no pressure was applied to you, this was entirely of your own making."

Neil Treharne, prosecuting, said police discovered The Bristol Trade Market had 181 people using it. An investigation of a phone led to Davis, and evidence of marketing drugs was gathered.
A search of an address linked to Davis uncovered two ledgers which included drug amounts, orders and profit. Police also found white powder which was found to be a cutting agent, as well as quantities of cannabis, weighing scales and a small amount of cash.
The phone also contained photos of drugs and screenshots of WhatsApp conversations. Davis made no comment when interviewed.
John Stokes, defending, said: "He was involved in a chat with a large number of people. There was no significant financial benefit. This was a wake-up call regarding offending of this kind, a toe in hot water.
"He now recognises the very serious predicament he faces this morning. He's show genuine remorse."
