A new cafe has opened near Clifton Down, serving speciality coffee roasted just a few miles away in Hengrove. Odd Shop has taken over the premises at 45 Whiteladies Road, which was previously occupied by Wayland’s Yard coffee house.
Odd Shop is serving up brunch and daily lunch specials, freshly baked cakes and pastries, as well as coffee roasted by its parent business Odd Kin Coffee, who have been operating from their roastery in Hengrove for a few years. In a post on Instagram, the company thanked their predecessors and said that the opening day for the cafe had come just 33 days after the initial idea to take over the unit.
Open Monday to Friday from 7.30am-4.00 pm and weekends from 8am-5pm, Odd Kin says it will be offering customers "new branding, new concept, new design, new menu" but with the same team as previously. While it may be a bit frosty at the moment for al fresco coffee, the cafe benefits from a large outdoor seating area at the front, moments away from Clifton Down train station.

Writing on the company's website, a representative said: "Roasting for our customers and wholesale partners is a dream, but we wanted somewhere in the heart of Bristol where we could meet more of the wonderful people in this city.
"So we’ve expanded the business and opened our very own coffee shop in Clifton. The space was previously home to our friends at Wayland’s Yard, which means we’ve got some big shoes to fill - but we’ve promised to keep delivering for all their local regulars and newcomers to our Bristol coffee shop."
