Bristol City player ratings vs Sheffield United: Andy King shines bright in frustrating defeat

Max O'Leary - 6

A little nervy moment in the first half but a strong performance on the back of the Watford defeat. Commanded his area well although kicks to Cornick were hit and miss. Not much he could have done with the winner.

George Tanner (off 87, Mehmeti) - 7

Really disciplined showing for the majority of the game, limiting any opportunities that came down his side. The goal came down his side although harsh to pin it on him. Needed better deliveries from wide positions.

Zak Vyner - 7

Nothing to be critical of in his performance having marshalled Ndiaye well throughout the game. Won his headers and maintained his concentration. Showed leadership qualities to marshal the defence.

Cam Pring - 8

Stood up to the physical test of McBurnie and was aggressive in his press making life uncomfortable for the forward. Worked well alongside Dasilva on the left side.

Jay Dasilva - 8

Continued his run of fine form with another strong, disciplined performance. Like his partners, was aggressive in the tackle. Was handed a different challenge in the second half with McAtee's introduction but dealt with him well.

Andy King - 8

Brilliant first half, seeing a lot of the ball and getting it forward early by hitting the channels. Maintained that standard in the second period and arguably one of his best performances in a City shirt.

Matty James - 7

Another really effective showing from the midfielder who screened the defence and got City playing with intricate, quick passing, especially in the first half.

Andi Weimann - 6

Did a good job standing on Berge out of possession. Did a lot of the dirty work which would have gone unnoticed from a defensive perspective. Couldn't get close enough to Wells but was tireless in the press. A few too many wayward passes in good positions in the second half which was frustrating.

Sam Bell (off 73, Scott) - 7

A strong shout for a penalty in the first half before missing a great chance with a header in the same passage of play. Had his full-back for pace but crossing wayward on occasions. Superb defensive work but quieter in the second half.

Nahki Wells (off 65, Conway) - 7

Caused problems running the channels with City hitting him early when moving forward. Did a good job linking the play with his strike partners. Didn't get his chance in front of goal but was full of running and chasing down the central defenders. Looked frustrated to come off.

Harry Cornick (off 65, Sykes) - 7

Did well to create a good opportunity for himself with the first strike on target after 15 minutes. Looked confident on the ball, and not afraid to take on his opponents. A handful aerially in the first half but quieter in the second period with the hosts showing some attacking intent. Harshly booked for time-wasting.

Substitutes

Mark Sykes (on 65, Cornick) - 7

Was heavily involved on the right side, getting crosses into the area but with no one on the end of them.

Tommy Conway (on 65, Wells ) - 6

Made some good runs but wasn't picked out enough.

Alex Scott (on 73, Bell) - 6

Injected quality on the ball but set-pieces were wasteful including a free-kick on the edge of the area.

Anis Mehmeti (on 87, Tanner ) - N/A

Subs not used: Wiles-Richards, Taylor-Clarke, Naismith
