Bristol City player ratings vs Middlesbrough: Cornick finds his feet as Tanner impresses

Max O'Leary - 7

An early let-off when he misjudged a header back across goal. Apart from that, solid throughout when called upon. Had no chance with Aaron Ramsey's header or the equalising goal. Distribution was impressive. Made a really good save late on to salvage a point.

George Tanner - 8

Barely put a foot wrong in the game. Didn't offer plenty going forward, wary of Boro's attacking threat down his side. Disciplined in the second half, tracking the runs of Ryan Giles who was a threat from left-back.

Zak Vyner - 7

A tall order going up against the Championship's leading marksmen in Akpom. Booked early on for a late challenge. Almost caught out when he misjudged a cross in the first half but solid nonetheless, proving he can deal with the league's top scorer.

Cam Pring - 6

Faultless in the first half against a top attacking unit. Unfortunately was at error for Middlesbrough's equaliser with a poor clearance before playing Crooks onside. Was his only blemish in the game but one in which cost the hosts two points.

Jay Dasilva - 7

Another bright performance from the left-back who was playing with plenty of confidence going forward, showing his ability to beat a man with positive runs forward. Excellent first half, but faded slightly in the second having seemed reluctant to get forward.

Andy King (off 69, Naismith) - 7

Often found it difficult to keep up to speed with the runners in midfield with Boro overloading that area of the pitch. Didn't do much wrong, sitting back and breaking up play.

Matty James - 7

Another disciplined showing, tracking the runners and intricate passes in and around the area. Gave it away once or twice, to the annoyance of Pearson on the touchline, but City's Mr. Consistent was dependable yet again.

Andi Weimann - 7

Missed a glorious chance in the first half, one for which the keeper deserves credit for. Put in a defensive shift with Boro threatening to overload the middle of the pitch, closing down their space and time on the ball. Missed a header at the back post in the final 10 minutes.

Sam Bell (off 75, Mehmeti) - 8

Started the game in a similar form to his performance at Stoke. A dangerous outlet out on the left who almost assisted Cornick earlier on. Deservedly opened the scoring with a confident finish. May feel he could have done better to stop the cross for Boro's first.

Nahki Wells (off 90, Taylor-Clarke) - 7

Another tireless performance, which is credit to him for the quick turnaround in games. Played a key role in the second, assisting Cornick with his pass across goal. Didn't get an opportunity in front of goal but all-round play was excellent.

Harry Cornick (off 69, Conway) - 8

Almost opened the scoring after four minutes when his goalbound effort was blocked. Played a key part in the goal, showing endeavour to keep the attack alive before finding Bell. Got the goal he deserved just after half-time, tapping home Wells' delivery. Question marks whether he lost Ramsey's run for Boro's first.

Substitutes

Tommy Conway (on 69, Cornick) - 6

Threatened with his pace on the counter-attack but couldn't offer a threat in front of goal.

Kal Naismith (on 69, King) - 6

Looked rusty on his return from injury with his passes, particularly those going forward. Had to put in a defensive shift.

Anis Mehmeti (on 75, Bell) - N/A

Some excellent deliveries from the left, one in which Vyner should have buried.

Omar Taylor-Clarke (on 90, Wells) - N/A

Subs not used: Wiles-Richards, Wood, Leeson,
