Bristol City player ratings vs Luton: Wells stakes his claim as Dasilva shows his quality

Dan Bentley - 7

Wasn't tested in the first half and barely had much to do in the second. Dealt with his crosses well and was more assured with his distribution in comparison to Saturday. Made a decent save in injury time to keep hold of his clean sheet.

Zak Vyner - 8

Solid in the first half, beaten by Carlton Morris once on the right touchline but largely comfortable and confident to step forward with the ball and into tackles. A relatively faultless display.

Kal Naismith - 8

Obviously keen to impress against his former side and showed what Luton were missing with a solid first half display. Even had the confidence to pull out a number of tricks at the back. Kept the backline organised under pressure when City were down to 10 men.

Rob Atkinson - 8

Was initially marking Elijah Adebayo before the striker moved onto Vyner's side which is a compliment in itself to how easily he dealt with him. Another consistently strong showing.

Mark Sykes - 5

Was enjoying a solid game until the bizarre incident after the hour mark when he received a straight red card for reacting to challenge. Put his side under unnecessary pressure when his team were cruising. Up until then, he was proving to be a handful. Will now miss the next three games.

Jay Dasilva - 8

His movement going forward in the first half was important to allow Massengo with space to manoeuvre in the middle. A brilliant run forward in the second half before teeing up Conway. Almost got himself on the scoresheet with another surging run into the box. Was critical at the weekend but a much better showing this time around.

Han-Noah Massengo - 8

Played an excellent pass through to Weimann with the outside of his boot to help set up City's second. Luton's midfield couldn't pick him up in the first half and even threatened to score his first Robins goal with a handful of shooting opportunities on the edge of the box.

Alex Scott (off 80, Klose) - 7

Played a brilliant through ball to assist Wells in the opening five minutes. Ensured City kept possession well in the middle although one or two passes went astray. Was physically up for the challenge. A brilliant run in the second half almost assisted Martin.

Andi Weimann (off 88, King) - 7

Another goal involvement as he made the run down the left flank before picking out Conway at the back post. Was dropping deeper into midfielder so Scott and Massengo didn't get overrun. Relatively quiet compared to his usual energetic self and received a yellow card in the melee.

Tommy Conway (off 76, Williams) - 7

Continued his fine form with another goal to his name, this time with the easiest of finishes at the back post. Luton couldn't deal with his pace at the back. Had a chance to double his tally in the second half

Nahki Wells (off 76, Martin) - 8

Needed to make a statement this evening and wasted little time doing that by opening the scoring inside five minutes. Opened his body superbly to find the bottom corner. Luton couldn't pick up his movement in and around the area and surely staked his claim to start on Sunday.

Substitutes

Chris Martin (on 76, Wells) - 6

Did what he had to do by holding up the play and taking the pressure off his team-mates when they were down to 10 men.

Joe Williams (on 76, Conway) - 6

His energy was a welcome arrival in midfield when City needed an extra body in the mix to help see out the contest.

Timm Klose (on 80, Scott) - N/A

Andy King (on 88, Weimann) - N/A

Subs not used: O'Leary, Tanner, Wilson
