Bristol City's summer transfer business was already earning the plaudits from supporters and outsiders before the club announced the arrival of Kane Wilson on Friday night.
The Robins are now the envy of fans from fellow Championship rivals with Nigel Pearson plucking out three signings on free transfers after Mark Sykes and Kal Naismith's arrivals - albeit a small compensation to be paid to Forest Green.
Wilson, 22, is regarded as one of the most talented wing-backs outside of the Premier League following his remarkable campaign as he helped his soon-to-be former club achieve promotion from League Two.
The right-sided defender scored three and assisted 13 in 45 appearances last season on his way to being crowned the best player in the league earning the attention of scouts across the Championship including Nottingham Forest who could have made their move if they failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.
Not only have City pulled off a player whose career is on a rapid upward trajectory, but they have also filled a position that desperately required attention at right wing-back. Not only will it be a relief to the manager but also to the fans and presumably midfielder Alex Scott who was tasked with filling the void for large parts of last season.
Understandably his signature has brought a sense of excitement to the fanbase with expectations gradually growing ahead of the new campaign.
Just a glimpse of last season's highlight reel showing his goals and assists proves that Wilson has an undoubted talent in those boots, helped by being handed the freedom to attack by last season's Forest Green manager Rob Edwards.
The step up from League Two to the Championship is undoubtedly large and will pose a new and welcome challenge to Wilson but the City faithful are hoping he can replicate some of that magic in BS3 next season.
Here's how a few of you reacted to the signing of Wilson with a number of brilliant responses...
Wilson will arrive in the Championship with a point to prove having first come through the West Brom academy.
Joining at the age of seven, he failed to make a league appearance for the Baggies with his only showing coming in a EFL Cup match against Northampton in 2016. He then spent time on loan with Exeter, Walsall and Tranmere before eventually signing for Forest Green in 2020 where his reputation has rocketed in the last 12 months.
