Bristol City confirm friendly against Premier League Bournemouth in final game before new season

Bristol City have confirmed their second pre-season friendly of the summer with an away trip to newly-promoted Bournemouth on July 23 with a 3pm kick-off.

Nigel Pearson's side will conclude their preparations for the upcoming campaign with a trip to the south coast, their final warm-up match before the season gets underway on the following weekend.

The Premier League opponents will provide a solid test of where City are at ahead of the curtain-raiser. The Robins will learn of their league opponents when the fixtures are released on June 23 with the start of the season being moved forward due to the winter World Cup.

Pearson is likely to put out one of his strongest sides that could include his trio of new signings including right wing-back Kane Wilson. Scott Parker's Bournemouth will also challenge his side to gain momentum heading into their first campaign on their return to the top flight. The Premier League season gets underway a week after the first round of Championship fixtures.

The club have confirmed they will receive a full allocation of 1,318 tickets with prices at £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for under-16s. Tickets go on general sale on June 28.

City also have a pre-season friendly scheduled away at Plymouth on July 16 which was initially thrown into doubt after vandals broke into Home Park and drove a tractor across the pitch with the surface being renovated.

There is also a friendly arrangement with Yate Town on August 2, although the opponents confirmed it will be against City's Under-23 side as it takes place after the Championship season gets underway.

City are unlikely to play any friendly games at Ashton Gate this summer with the pitch being relaid. There are also concerts taking place inside the stadium including two Elton John shows later this month.

That means City's home friendlies will take place at the High Performance Centre and more pre-season fixtures are likely to be announced in due course.

The players returned from their holidays last Friday for initial pre-season testing but were handed another week off before returning to the club next week when they'll be put through the hard yards.
