Bristol bus smashes into house after being hit by car

A bus crashed into a house in Bristol last night (December 15), with a passenger needing hospital treatment. A car collided with the double-decker bus, causing it to hit a property in Highbridge Road, in Bishopsworth, at around 9.50pm.

The driver of the VW Golf fled the scene on foot before police officers arrived. One female passenger from the number 75 bus was taken to hospital.

The homeowners were unharmed in the incident and are being supported by officers. Avon and Somerset Police say there are no known life-threatening or changing injuries.

Highbridge Road was closed while structural checks were carried out on the house and vehicles were removed. It has since been reopened.

The force said in a statement: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or have seen the driver of the Golf. If you have any information, please call 101 and quote reference number 5222299943."
