Bristol bus cuts: Four new services set to launch this week amid huge shake-up

Four new bus routes will launch in the Bristol area next week as part of a big shake-up of the region's buses. While they won't be enough to cover the loss of more than 40 bus services in the last year, it will come as a silver lining to some passengers amid major cuts.

The West of England will see huge changes to the bus network from Sunday (April 2), with numerous timetable changes, some route changes and 30 buses completely wiped off the map. But as well as the services being axed, First Bus has announced it will be operating two new services and Stagecoach has also confirmed a new route. Transpora Bus South will be running two new buses - but one of them will be a shuttle bus service for Co-op employees only.

Some of the new buses are said to serve as partial replacements for a few of the many bus routes that will no longer be in operation. The 47 bus, which currently runs an hourly service from Yate to Broadmead, will be scrapped and replaced by the 525 and the 25 and the new 522 bus route will be introduced to replace the 178.
