Bristol burger brand takes over from its own vegan restaurant

A popular Bristol burger brand has launched its second site after taking over its own vegan restaurant. Burger Theory has opened at 54 Stokes Croft, the former site of plant-based brand, Om Burger.

Burger Theory was first founded in 2012 by chef and restauranteur Rory Perriment, who strives to make the perfect "burger DNA" in Bristol. Its first restaurant opened in 2017 and the brand still has a site on St Stephen's Street as well as catering events and festivals.

Rory launched Om Burger in 2020 with Nick Makin, a plant-based offshoot from the same team behind the highly-rated Burger Theory. Earlier this year, the owners closed the vegan restaurant as 'the costs of running a restaurant are just too high and only getting higher', with the last day of restaurant trading on April 9.

Burger Theory quickly announced it would be taking the brand to the Stokes Croft site to offer its classic meat burgers alongside some new recipes. It reopened under the Burger Theory brand on April 20.

On Instagram, Burger Theory said: "Thank you so much everyone who has come down to celebrate Burger Theory, Stokes Croft so far! We had a beautiful sunny day for our soft launch, so captured a few BTS shots for those that didn’t make it. It’s been great hearing your feedback and support as we transitioned from Om Burger to Burger Theory 2.0 in Stokes Croft."

Meat-free Om Burger still exists at its former site, with a plant-based menu offered side-by-side and is also sold on UberEats. The core menu consists of around nine burgers which all but one can be made vegan or vegetarian, with multiple gluten-free options available too.

Bottomless Burger Brunch at Burger Theory (Burger Theory)

The Stokes Croft site has a huge choice of sides, including loaded friends and chicken wings, including Wings Wednesday offering 50p per wing. Burger bottomless brunch is served at the St Stephen's Street restaurant, offering unlimited food and drink for two hours at £39.50 per person.
