A popular Bristol brewery is planning to open a new bar on the ground floor of a historic building in Stokes Croft.
Left Handed Giant is applying for a premises licence to convert the ground floor of the Victorian Carriageworks building into a large bar. The brewery, which is based in St Philip’s, also has bars on King Street, North Street in Bedminster, and Finzels Reach opposite Castle Park.
The company has applied for a licence for the new bar in Stokes Croft from Bristol City Council.

Councillors will decide whether to grant the new licence during a licensing hearing on Thursday, July 6.
According to the application, the bar will be open until 1.30 am from Thursday to Saturday and until 12.30am from Sunday to Wednesday.
The Carriageworks, at the top of Stokes Croft, was recently converted into apartments but the ground floor has been left empty. The 19th-century building is Grade-II listed but was left derelict for decades, before the recent conversion.
Stokes Croft has seen a number of new venues opening in the area recently. Last month, a popular Bristol burger brand launched its second site after taking over its own vegan restaurant. Burger Theory has opened at 54 Stokes Croft, the former site of plant-based brand, Om Burger.

Meat-free Om Burger still exists at its former site, with a plant-based menu offered side-by-side and is also sold on UberEats. The core menu consists of around nine burgers which all but one can be made vegan or vegetarian, with multiple gluten-free options available too.
