Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2019: This is when the Night Glows will take place

It would be fair to say excitement is building ahead of the return of Bristol Balloon Fiesta.

It's shaping up to be a memorable festival with more than 100 balloons taking to the skies in the highly-anticipated mass ascents, which will include some fantastic special shapes.

One of the main highlights of the event, which is likely to attract half a million visitors to Ashton Court between August 8 - 11, is without question the Night Glow - which takes place twice during the weekend.

Each Night Glow will see a selection of the most impressive balloons from the Fiesta tether and light up the night sky, accompanied by a soundtrack of popular songs.

Both spectacles will last for around an hour and end with a huge fireworks display. Below is when the two Night Glows will take place.

When are this year’s Night Glows?

The first Night Glow will take place at  9pm on Thursday, August 8 and the second will be at  9pm on Saturday, August 10 .

On these two days, the Clifton Suspension Bridge will be closed to all pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. Bridge closure times during this year’s Balloon Fiesta will be:

  • Thursday, August 8 from 6pm until midnight
  • Saturday, August 10 from 6pm until midnight

There will be diversions in place for those trying to get to the Fiesta and visitors are advised to make themselves aware of the road closures before travelling.
