Bristol Airport has agreed a five-year deal with a regional airport advertising firm to manage and sell its advertising assets.
Harrogate-based Eye Airports, which was awarded the contract after a tender process, will manage all advertising and promotional opportunities, working closely with the airport’s commercial team to deliver campaigns. The company has said it is planning to deliver some "exciting new initiatives" using technology inside and outside the terminal.
The transport hub is home to a range of media formats, including a digital screen, HD screens, lightboxes, external 48-sheets and roundabouts.
Rupert Lawrie, commercial director at Bristol Airport, said: “We look forward to working with Eye Airports over the coming five years and seeing the creative advertising campaigns across the airport. Last month saw the beginning of a £4m investment into the retail and catering facilities at Bristol Airport and we are proud of the environment that we have to offer to advertisers.
"We believe this new partnership will create an even stronger platform for advertisers to inspire our passengers over the coming years.”
In 2019, Eye Airports was acquired by outdoor advertising company CP Media. Rachel Davies, managing director of Eye Airports, added: “We enjoy an excellent working relationship with Bristol Airport, so we are naturally delighted to secure a new five-year contract."
The news comes as a High Court judge ruled the expansion of Bristol Airport would be allowed to go ahead. Campaigners had been appealing against the transport hub's plans to expand its maximum capacity from 10 million to 12 million passengers a year.
Bristol Airport secured planning permission from the government last year on appeal, after councillors in North Somerset had previously rejected its proposals in February 2020. A group of environmental campaigners and local residents had been appealing the decision, but it was dismissed by the judge on January 31.
The airport's plans include a major investment in its terminal building, parking facilities, and public transport links.
