Bristol Airport: Ryanair flight diverted after passenger 'became ill' on board

Ryanair has confirmed that a flight from Bristol Airport was diverted today after a passenger "became ill" while on board. The plane was on its journey towards Valencia when a passenger became unwell, and the flight had to land at Bordeaux.

The aircraft landed safely, and the passenger was assessed and had to leave the plane for medical treatment, according to the airline. The RYR69LH flight had been due to leave at 6.35am but did not leave until 7.04am.

It was due to arrive in Valencia at 9.50am, but Ryanair said that there were delays of around two hours. A spokesperson for the company said: "This flight from Bristol to Valencia (03 June) diverted to Bordeaux after a passenger became ill on board.

"The aircraft landed normally and the customer was met by medical personnel and disembarked for further treatment. The aircraft continued its journey to Valencia after a short delay of approximately two hours.

"Ryanair apologises to affected customers for this delay.” There has also been wider disruption at Bristol Airport today, with passengers continuing to experience delays.

Some passengers described scenes at the airport this morning as "horrific" with claims of 21 flights departing at a similar time causing "enormous" queues. The airport anticipated that this bank holiday weekend would be its busiest period since 2019, although a spokesperson for the airport says they are currently recruiting 300 new staff members to ease the problems.
