Bristol Airport is now reopen after having to ground flights for hours due to snow earlier today. Flights this morning (March 8) were forced to stay on the ground while workers cleared the runways from snow and ice.
A significant amount of snow fell in the city overnight and, at around 7am this morning, Bristol Airport announced flights would not be taking off. Some planes arriving into Bristol were instead diverted to Birmingham Airport due to the conditions.
Now the airport has announced flights are once again taking off and landing in Bristol, though there may be residual delays and disruption across the flight network.

In a Tweet, Bristol Airport said: "Snow Update at 10:45hr: Bristol Airport is now open and operational but disruption across airline networks has resulted in some ongoing flight disruption. For the latest flight information, please check with your airline."
Plows were sent out onto the runways to start clearing snow and ice, and passengers were informed no flight operations would take place until at least 11am. Just before 11am, the arrivals and departures board at Bristol Airport showed some flights, those to Amsterdam and Faro, had begun boarding.
Most flights on the departure board are not showing an estimated departure time at the time of writing, while the arrivals board only shows two estimated times for incoming flights. This is expected to be updated throughout the day. For full recap of the airport closure, you can read more on our live blog.
