Bristol Airport launches overnight bag drop for easyJet, TUI and Jet2 flights

Passengers at Bristol Airport will now have the opportunity to check in their hold luggage the evening before they fly. The airport's new twilight check-in service is available to easyJet, TUI and Jet2 customers seven days a week at no additional cost.

The service will allow travellers to skip the check-in queue on the morning of their flight and head straight through to security as luggage will have already been sorted and will be ready for departure. The airport has said it will particularly suit customers who are staying overnight at the onsite Hampton by Hilton hotel, other local hotels or bed and breakfasts and give peace of mind prior to an early flight departure.

Speaking on the new scheme, Richard Thomasson, Head of Customer Operations at Bristol Airport, said: “We have seen a rapid increase in customers using Bristol Airport over the past two months after the huge pent-up demand for travel. We are now delighted to offer Twilight/Drop Off bag service for flights departing with Jet2, easyJet and TUI.

"Having the option to check-in the night before will provide a much smoother passage on the morning of travel and deliver a seamless airport experience ahead of taking a well-earned summer holiday with friends and family. We are encouraging customers to take advantage of this service if they can and to check with their airline to find out more information on when their Twilight/ Bag Drop desks opens."

Bristol Airport already asks travellers to arrive at the airport at the time airlines are advising passengers to check-in, but has warned that arriving too early will lead to congestion and may put a strain on the operations of the earlier departures. Other airports in the UK such as Gatwick and Heathrow already offer this service with some airlines.

The new measure will hope to ease some of the queues at check-in and security during morning peak times. The industry has seen a surge in demand this year with queues and delays, affected by a number of reasons including staff shortages.

To use this service, customers will need to bring their passports and boarding passes along with them when checking their bags in the evening before. EasyJet and Jet2 passengers must be travelling before 12pm the following day while TUI customers must have a flight scheduled to depart before 8.30am to qualify for the service. Bag drop timings should be checked directly with the airline, the airport advises.
