Demonstrators are meeting in Bristol this lunchtime (Saturday, February 4) in protest at a High Court ruling in favour of the expansion of Bristol Airport.
The Bristol Airport Action Network (BAAN) is meeting at College Green from midday to demonstrate after the group failed in its latest bid to stop the expansion, which could see passenger numbers rising from 10 million to 12 million each year.
Campaigners say the expansion would have disastrous consequences for local people and the environment.

BAAN is a group of local campaigners who gathered together groups opposing Bristol Airport’s original planning application in December 2018 and has resisted the expansion plans ever since. Its original campaign involved marches, village hall meetings, petitions, vigils and lobbying activity which led to over 11,000 comments submitted by the public to the planning website - 84 per cent of which were against the plans.
In a poster released on social media, a spokesman for the group said the gathering would include "speeches and a discussion about our next steps from here".
Extinction Rebellion's Bristol branch has also lent its support to the demonstration.
In
, the group said: "Please do what you can to be there to support this massively important local cause that has national and global significance. You can make a difference. #BristolAirportIsBigEnough ".
