Bristol Airport announces 'major' overhaul with new restaurant, bar and 'dozens' of jobs

A "major" redevelopment project announced by Bristol Airport will include a new restaurant, bar, shop, and the creation of dozens of new jobs.

A three-month project to improve the airport's airside departure lounge is due to commence on Monday (January 24), to be complete in time for the Easter holidays.

A £2.6million investment in the airport aims to improve passengers' experience before boarding their flights.

In a statement released by the airport, the work was described as a "major redevelopment".

The improvements will see WHSmith expand its current unit to incorporate technology brand InMotion, which sells mobile accessories, headphones, tablets and speakers.

Tortilla, a Mexican restaurant, will open, and the airside bar at the departure lounge will be relaunched with coffee shop Ritazza.

Meanwhile JD Sports will move to a bigger unit within the airport.

The new project will create 'dozens' of new jobs.

Tom Hack, Head of Commercial at Bristol Airport, said: “This is an exciting project and opportunity for Bristol Airport and its customer facilities.

"The £2.6million investment in the enhancements of the commercial amenities shows a very clear sign of the confidence our commercial partners have in Bristol Airport and vice versa.

"The redevelopments will create dozens of new jobs to the local area as the airport sees a continued passenger growth since the Covid pandemic."

Mr Hack says he is "very confident" the investment will provide a greater passenger experience.

“Our customers’ holidays start in our departure lounge, and it is very important for us to provide them with the best possible experience," he added.

"We understand that our leisure and business customers have high expectations when travelling through Bristol Airport and we will continue to strive to meet their requirements.

"We are very confident that the investment and redevelopment in our departure lounge will provide a greater passenger experience as we offer new places to shop, eat, drink and relax before you fly.”
