A "brilliant" schoolboy was on his way to play Sunday League football when he died in a crash - with his family paying a heartbreaking tribute.
Ted Vines was a passenger in a car which collided with another yesterday morning and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 12-year-old of Alford, Lincolnshire, was on his way to Branston to play for the Alford Under-12s in a match, reports Grimsby Live.
It happened on the B1190 near Bardney at around 9.48am on Sunday (January 16), involving a silver Mercedes-Benz A220 and a silver Ford Galaxy.
Ted was a passenger in the Ford Galaxy.
His family has released a statement paying tribute to him.
They said: "Ted was loved by everyone – he was happy, fun and brilliant and had so many people who loved him.
“On Sunday, he was on his way to play football for Alford Under-12s at Branston, as he was a part of that team.
“Everywhere he went, Ted made friends. He was a special part of the community for everyone.”
The driver of the Mercedes, a man, has been taken to hospital for treatment.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said at the time: "We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage following a two-vehicle collision in which a 12-year-old boy sadly died."
