'Brilliant' Rodrigo told he can fill the Leeds United void left by Raphinha

Micah Richards has praised Leeds United forward Rodrigo after the Spaniard continued his sensational start to the season with a goal in the 3-0 win over Chelsea.

Rodrigo bagged his fourth goal in three games, nodding in the second goal of the game against Chelsea after meeting Jack Harrison's free-kick. The 31-year-old is already just two goals away from equalling last season's tally.

The former Valencia man led the line for Leeds in the absence of Patrick Bamford, but the loss of the number nine wasn't felt, with Rodrigo continuing his goalscoring streak.

"Four in three now," said former Manchester City defender Richards on Sky Sports' Super Sunday coverage. "He’s on fire. He feels like a man playing with confidence.

"When Raphinha goes, you’re looking for someone to step up to the plate. It’s not just his goal, he got an assist as well, but his whole game and work-rate. Pressing from the front. Brilliant."

Leeds ran riot against Chelsea, with Brenden Aaronson punishing a mistake from Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to give the Whites the lead. Rodrigo doubled the advantage four minutes later, before the Spaniard assisted Harrison in the second-half to make it 3-0. Leeds played against 10-men for the final five minutes after Kalidou Kouliably was shown a second yellow card for fouling Joe Gelhardt.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: "Leeds did ever so well, really brave, pressed from the front, controlled the game all over. They deserved to win. They scored some really good goals."
