Brighton point made after Man Utd defeat which could hand Nottingham Forest advantage

Brighton lost on penalties to Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday ahead of their clash with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

Neither team could be separated across 120 minutes of action as a goalless contest at Wembley Stadium was settled by spot-kicks. Solly March was the unlucky player to miss in the shootout as Victor Lindelof stayed cool to put the Red Devils into the final against rivals Manchester City.

The Seagulls now have only a few days to recover for the mid-week Premier League clash at the City Ground as they continue their push to qualify for Europe whilst Steve Cooper's side battle to avoid the drop.

Forest are winless in 11 games going into the clash against Roberto de Zerbi's team, but will have been boosted by the Seagulls playing a gruelling 120 minutes before suffering a heartbreaking defeat at Wembley.

Here's what Reds fans said on social media about Brighton's FA Cup match...

Rads_23: Really like what Brighton are about. Have a really exciting team & will only get stronger. But 120 minutes of football & crushing disappointment is good for us. Need to go at them now.

David Greensmith: Let’s hope they are on the beach now, nothing much to play for! Big performance required on Wednesday.

Louis Wheldon: Feel for Brighton, would’ve liked to see them make the final after how good they’ve been this season. However, extra half an hour playing and a few heads dipping may hand us more of a chance on Wednesday. Midweek home crowd behind them, hopefully we’ll go at them.

Alex: I would be pressing very high versus Brighton Weds. Take risks at the back.

JeThRo: Gutted for Brighton but I do hope they’ll feel utterly deflated on Wednesday.

Rocky: Brighton don't have a fit right back, and hopefully this game takes a lot out of them for Wednesday.

Geoff Cameraman: Let’s hope Brighton are deflated and knackered on Wednesday night, it’ll be the best chance we’ll have! COYR

Susanna Russell: Not sure if Brighton losing today is a good thing or not for #nffc! We play Wednesday. Will they be out for revenge or still licking their wounds?

Lee d: That's it Brighton get yourself some more time in those legs ready for us on Wednesday
