Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Brighton couldn’t hold on. Wolves edged the xG 1.11 to 1.15 but it was hard work in the end as Wolves looked like a completely different team in the second half. It shows that even without finding a win in their first nine league games the players are still fighting for O’Neil. Welbeck scored late in the first-half, which was largely dominated by Brighton but after the break Strand Larsen was the biggest threat in the second half. Any chance of a comeback seemed to be killed in the 85th minute when Ferguson delivered the lethal blow to make it two. But Ait-Nouri got the comeback underway and Cunha, the best player on the pitch secured the draw!

16:49

Goal Evan Joe Ferguson

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:48

Inches away from Strand Larsen. An enticing cross is sent in but the striker can't get his foot on it and Estupinan knocks it out for a corner.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:47

This is definitely more of a defensive change. Rutter, who has been one of Brighton's starmen today, leaves the pitch for Lamptey. The full-back still offers an attacking threat but his main role right now will be securing the lead.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:47

Well, this could be an opportunity for Brighton to just kill Wolves' late flurry. Subs are coming on with Baleba making way for Wieffer.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:45

A really busy couple of minutes for Brighton's defence but that pressure is just relieved for the moment as Estupinan shields the ball out of play.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:40

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Some fresh legs coming on for Brighton. Kadioglu has been lively and is replaced by Gruda.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:37

Ah no the free-kick goes out for a corner. It was a good header from Strand Larsen but goes out via a defender.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:36

Igor is punished for a late challenge and gives a free-kick away in a really dangerous position. He sees a yellow given to him but with how Wolves have been at set-pieces there could be an even bigger worry.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:36

Baleba hasn't been afraid to shoot this game. The ball falls to him on the edge of the box and he drills one goalwards, but the effort has little direction and Sa kneels down to collect.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:32

Cunha is really trying his best out here, and right now that is just not enough. He surges into the box and fires a shot that is parried by Verbruggen but he is Wolves' liveliest player and should be fed on every occasion right now. Looking like a threat.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:30

After some early moments after the break just watching Wolves hold onto the ball a bit more, it seems like Brighton are regrowing in confidence.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:27

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:18

Wolves have a great chance from a corner. Strand Larsen finds space to meet the set-piece but headers straight at Verbruggen.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:14

Yellow Card Rayan Aït-Nouri

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:13

Rutter has shown how big of a talent he is in this game. Last season at Leeds, there were fleeting moments, but here in Brighton, he is one of the biggest threats. He is a powerful runner and with Ait-Nouri trying to drag him down, he still couldn't.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:09

Lemina has been rash on the ball and off the ball today, often such a reliable player for O'Neil but just not today. It looks like more control is the aim with Sarabia coming on.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:09

We are back underway here, and it looks like Wolves are making two changes.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

16:09

Substitution Tote António Gomes Carlos Roberto Forbs Borges

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:57

Brighton will be content with this half, Hurzeler will be keen to translate the possession into more opportunities but they have kept Wolves at bay. O'Neil needs to get his side to be calmer on the ball, as every time they have won it back they have been eager to start something quickly and it has often failed.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:56

It is definitely a deserved lead for Brighton. They have dominated the ball and the one proper time they get in behind Wolves' defence they punish them, with a well-taken Welbeck shot. Wolves could have been up early on in the first-half when Doyle struggled to keep his strike down but since then Wolves struggled and will have to find something else in the second-half.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:52

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:43

Rutter tries to wriggle away from multiple Wolves players and find an opening for a shot. He doest that, but his shot is blocked and Baleba meets the rebound with a shot of his own. That effort was also defended well. Wolves have managed to ensure that Brighton's possession doesn't turn into shots.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:39

Wolves have stunted Brighton's early possession in the last ten minutes but the home side have a free-kick in a promising position, but the ball is hacked away by one of the many Wolves players in the box.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:37

Sa looks up at his defence and suggests that all is under control, but it doesn't fully seem like it. The ball squirms through to the back post where Mitoma beats the Portuguese international to it, but he manages to block the shot well.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:33

Cunha has been a bright spark for Wolves in this opening half-an-hour. He has dropped deep to collect the ball and try to get things going but it hasn't come off just yet.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:31

Sa is now down for Wolves. O'Neil is giving instruction but the first two occasions didn't seem to kill Brighton's momentum. Let's see if this next one does anything as some magic spray is used and he is back to his feet.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:28

Wolves are really struggling when they get the ball. They win it in a promising position, just inside the centre circle but Lemina tries to spray a pass out wide and it is easily intercepted. Brighton come again.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:25

WOW! That has Sa worried. Mitoma unleashes a shot from distance and it takes a nick off Dawson. It went over but it was dipping viciously.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:22

Brighton have started to just set up in Wolves' half. They aren't forcing anything but are keeping the ball moving with players running off the ball. The away side are struggling to track those and sooner rather than later it could be costly for Wolves.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:19

That's harsh on Gomes. He makes a great recovery challenge on Estpunian but is penalised. Brighton try to take the free-kick quickly and fluff their opportunity.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:15

Welbeck has Brighton's first effort. He is picked out by Paul van Hecke but the Englishman can't keep his header down and it lands on the roof of the net.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:15

Cunha is now receiving treatment after clashing his head on Baleba's knee. Again he gets up and carries on though.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:13

OH WHAT A CHANCE! Cunha does so well to just shrug Veltman to the floor and then lay the ball off to Doyle. The midfielder arrives into the box but blazes his shot over. O'Neil has his hands on his head.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:09

Play has stopped for a minute as Lemina is lying on the floor. It looks like Kardioglu just caught the Wolves midfielder.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:05

A feisty start here at the Lamex! Tackles flying in everywhere and neither team is able to keep hold of the ball for longer than a minute.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

15:03

Wolves get us under way but the news so far is that Dunk has been replaced by Igor in the starting line-up after an injury. The captain will have to wait for his 250th cap.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

14:58

Kick-off is just around the corner with the teams walking out of the tunnel.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

14:52

Despite the loss to City, there is only one change to the line-up with Andre moving to the bench and Doyle coming in. It seems that O’Neil has trust in his team and believes that this side is capable of getting their first league win of the season. The faith has been shown and now it is time for the players to repay him.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

14:47

There were worries that Welbeck wasn’t going to make this game after injuring himself against Newcastle, but he has passed the fitness test and starts up top with Rutter, who is quickly becoming a fan favourite on the south coast. Mitoma, Paul van Hecke and Estupinan come into the line-up. It is a special day for Lewis Dunk who has made his 250th Premier League appearance, the craziest thing about this is that all of them have been starts. Lewis Dunk is the opposite of a super sub.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

14:47

SUBS: Matt Doherty, Andre, Rodrigo Gomes, Pablo Sarabia, Dan Bentley, Carlos Forbes, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Goncalo Guedes, Pedro Lima.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

14:37

The pressure might be building on Gary O’Neil. His maiden campaign in charge of Wolves was impressive beating some of the league’s big boys, but now he can only dream of three points. They are rock bottom and winless during the opening eight games, they have scored in their last five games though, which have all ended in defeat. If they make it six goal-scoring losses, then they will match the Manchester City team from 1960, and in 60 years they could be celebrating a treble!

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

14:37

Brighton have been one of the teams that have raced out of the docks and impressed early on. Fabian Hurzeler seems charismatic and also able to build a team that can win games, quite an important trait as a Premier League manager. They sit sixth currently and if results go their way they could end the day in third place.
