Brighton defender opens up on 'weird' Liverpool build-up and preparation issue

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Adam Webster insists "it's been weird" as the Seagulls have not played a Premier League game in almost a month ahead of their trip to Anfield on Saturday.

Since their 5-2 win at home to Leicester City on September 2, Brighton lost their manager Graham Potter to Chelsea, but new coach Roberto De Zerbi has not taken charge of a game due to the death of the Queen and the international break.

The new Brighton boss hasn't been able to train with a full group as of yet because of players being away on international duty before the tough task of taking on Liverpool at Anfield.

Midfielder Moises Caideco has been away on international duty with Ecuador and has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp seeks a new signing in the middle of the pitch.

“You always want to play in teams that are in possession, that control the game and I feel like we’re going to go to a new level with that. It suits us – [Lewis] Dunky, Joel [Veltman] and I are all comfortable in possession, we love to have the ball and it’s music to our ears," Webster told the club's website.

"Hopefully it will help us all improve. I am sure over time he will implement what he wants to, but it’s been weird as not everyone has been here because of the international break and we won’t have too many sessions all together before the game against Liverpool.”

Brighton come into Saturday's match in fourth spot in the Premier League while Liverpool currently sit in eighth place. A win for the Reds will take them just one point behind the Seagulls.
