Brighton chief explains Alexis Mac Allister transfer amid Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd move

Brighton CEO Paul Barber failed to rule out the possibility of a transfer exit for star midfielder Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the summer window. The Argentina international continues to be linked with a switch away from the Seagulls, with his father and agent - Carlos Mac Allister - publicly discussing a move.

Arsenal and Manchester United are two of the teams who are said to be eyeing a switch as they look to bolster their midfield ranks for the future. football.london understands that Mac Allister is one of the players at the top of Chelsea's summer shortlist, with the club seriously considering a move.

Brighton do not want to sell Mac Allister this summer but will accept a suitable offer for the midfielder, a source has also disclosed to football.london. It remains to be seen exactly how much would be enough for a move though, with Brighton rarely announcing a fee for a player beforehand.

With the World Cup winner's future in the air, Barber has discussed the 24-year-old's future and failed to rule out an exit. He told talkSPORT: "Well with Alexis, we sat down before the World Cup with Carlos, Alexis' father and his agent, and agreed a new contract and that was about making sure Alexis was as settled as possible as he could be before the World Cup.

"And afterwards we ensured he got back focused on the Premier League, which to his credit he absolutely has done and has performed very very well. What the summer brings, we don't know and we do know that our best players are going to come under a lot of scrutiny and a lot of interest and we'll manage that as we always do, if and when it happens."

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the midfielder, who has caught the eye of a few clubs over the past year. However, with Brighton being notoriously tough negotiators, it may be a difficult battle to win if any of the teams are to put their hat in the ring to land him.
