Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber has refused to confirm interest in Liverpool midfielder James Milner.
The veteran is out of contract at the end of the season and his glittering spell at Anfield looks poised to come to a close.
The ECHO understands that the 37-year-old will not extend his eight-year stay on Merseyside and the Seagulls are poised to be his destination.

Barber spoke to Sky Sports ahead of his team's clash with Manchester United in the Premier League on Thursday, but was not willing to give much away about individual targets despite the strong links with Milner.
"There’s lots of rumours in this business, isn’t there?" he said. "But, we’re always looking to add experience and quality to the club, and obviously there’s one or two candidates out there that fit that bill very nicely."
Brighton have enjoyed a tremendous campaign and remain in contention to finish in a European place come the end of the campaign.
Ahead of the fixture with United they were eight in the Premier League table, albeit with three games in hand on Liverpool in fifth with a seven-point gap to make up.
Milner has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup in his time on Merseyside. The versatile former England international joined on a free from Manchester City in 2015 and has been one of the most important players of the Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool.
