It is set in the early 1950s, film follows Elizabeth Zott (played by Larson), who dreams of being a scientist is put on hold in a patriarchal society.

“When I first read the book, I was blown away by the dialogue and the way that Bonnie (Garmus) approached character. And then the twists and turns of the story were so surprising and unexpected for me that it started kind of taking shape immediately as episodes,” said Lee Eisenberg, showrunner, and executive producer for the Apple TV+ series on TODAY.com.

When Elizabeth finds herself finds out her lab fires her, she accepts a job as a host on a TV men show who are suddenly listening to the recipes she creates

The first episode introduces Elizabeth as a beloved and stern cooking host guiding a live audience of housewives through the process of making lasagna.

“I think they share so many qualities — both Brie and Elizabeth are so fiercely intelligent, very logical thinkers and the hardest working person in any room,” said Sarah Adina Smith, who directed the first two episodes of the show.

The series includes Larson, Lewis Pullman, Aja Noami King, Stephanie Koenig, Kevin Sussman, Patrick Walker, and Thomas Mann.
