The wait is almost over and viewers are being cordially invited to the second season of one of Netflix's biggest original shows, Bridgerton.
Since the first season was released on Christmas Day in 2020, it has been watched by 82 million households and has since built up a loyal fan base all eager to see the second instalment.
In a new teaser trailer shared by Netflix on Valentine's Day, viewers were treated to the return of Lady Whistledown voiced by the icon that is Julie Andrews as she says: "Dearest gentle reader, did you miss me?" and mentions in her newsletter she has been 'sharpening her knives'.

At the end of the first season, Simon, aka the Duke of Hastings, and Daphne Bridgerton were seen happily married after a turbulent series and viewers were also shown the true identity of Lady Whistledown.
Season two of the hit series is set to be based on the second book by Julia Quinn titled The Viscount Who Loved Me.
So when are the new episodes being released? Will the season one cast be returning? Here's everything you need to know about Bridgerton's return.
When is season 2 of Bridgerton coming out on Netflix?
The second series of Bridgerton will be available to stream on Netflix from March 25 from 7am GMT.
If you're one of the rare few to have not seen the first season, you can catch up on all the episodes on Netflix now ahead of season two's release next month.

The trailer for season two was teased with fans on February 14 and gives a glimpse into what's in store - from opulent buildings, beautiful costumes, formal gatherings and once again it seems there will be plenty of drama to unfold too.
The 35-year-old actress who plays Penelope Featherington and star of Channel 4's Derry Girls, Nicola Coughlan, tweeted the trailer adding: "Consider yourself teased."
The Bridgerton Twitter account posted: "This author's quill knows no loyalty, thus it is advised to guard one's secrets with their life. Bridgerton Season 2 returns March 25, 2022. Only on Netflix."

The Bridgerton season two cast
Many members of the cast from season one will be making a return for the second instalment, however it has already been confirmed that Regé-Jean Page will not be returning as the Duke in the latest episodes.
In a post on the Bridgerton Instagram in April 2021, a note from Lady Whistledown read: "Dearest readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family."
As the Netflix show continues each season will focus on a new member of the Bridgerton family, this season the focus will be on Jonathan Bailey's character Viscount Anthony Bridgerton.
There will be some newcomers to season two including:
- Charithra Chandran (Alex Rider) who will play Edwina Sharma
- Shelley Conn (Liar) as Mary Sharma
- Calam Lynch (Benediction) as Theo Sharpe
- Rupert Young (Dear Evan Hansen) who will star as Jack
A number of cast members will also be returning for season two, including Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bassett, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington and Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton.
And of course not forgetting, Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown.
Bridgerton will be available to stream on Netflix from Friday, March 25.
