Bridgerton season 2 - who are Marc Pilcher and Carole Prentice? Viewers left curious by tributes

Bridgeton fans have been left doing some online searching at the end of the first and final episodes of season 2 as the hit show paid tribute to two different people.

Over a year after the big budget period drama swept viewers off their feet with its first run, the second launched on Netflix to great anticipation. From the moment the streaming service announced its return with an announcement penned by the mysterious and iconic Lady Whistledown herself, fans have been counting the days to its release.

And, while many people's Bridgerton crush, the Duke of Hastings, left the show after just one series, there are plenty of returning characters, including his beau Daphne. Season 2 focuses on her brother, Anthony Bridgeton as he's put under pressure to find a suitable wife.

Elsewhere, while viewers now know her true identity, Lady Whistledown is desperately trying to keep her big secret under wraps, while the Queen searches for her new 'diamond' to follow in Daphne's footsteps. But it wasn't the name of a cast member that sparked a lot of curiosity right before credits rolled on episode one and season 2.

After the episode ended with a shot of the Queen the words 'In Memory of Marc Pilcher' appeared on screen, prompting viewers to try and find out who Marc was on Twitter and Google.

Marc played a huge role in the success of Bridgerton season 1 as he was in charge of charge of hair and makeup. The 53-year-old sadly died in October 2021 of complications following a Covid-19 infection.

Those who have already rushed to binge all of season 2 have also been searching for another name after the final episode was dedicated to Carole Prentice. Carole worked on the new series as a Covid-19 co-ordinator, helping to safeguard the cast and crew. She died aged 61 in January of this year.
