Bridgerton season 2 trailer released as Netflix confirm release date

Netflix has confirmed the date that we will see Bridgerton return to our screens as they shared a new season 2 trailer.

The period romance drama was Netflix's biggest hit of all time when season one debuted on December 25, 2020 as 82 million households watched the show in its first month.

The record has only been surpassed by last year's Squid Game.

The online streaming service thrilled fans when it confirmed Bridgerton had been renewed for a second season and production started in Spring 2021.

Today, Netflix has dropped the first official trailer for the upcoming new season, ahead of its air date on March 25, 2022.

In keeping with the tradition of the novels, season two tells the romance story of Lord Anthony Bridgerton's quest for love, and is set to be even more raunchy and thrilling than the first.

Avid fans of the series will know Regé-Jean Page, 34, who played Simon, the brooding Duke of Hastings, will not be returning in the latest series, but Phoebe Dynevor, 26, will return as Daphne Bridgerton.

After a long and sexually tense courtship, fans were captivated as the couple fell in love, married and embarked on joyous frisky sessions - and then rowed because Daphne wanted a baby and the Duke didn't.

Will they now live happily ever after? It seems Daphne may spend this series more involved with her siblings’ love lives, happy to back out of the spotlight.

The thrilling trailer also teases a brand-new romance.

The clip sees a change in Bridgerton's narrative, as it looks as though Season 2 will now follow Daphne's brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) as he tries to find a suitable wife.

Bridgerton returns to Netflix on March 25.
